NHSO confiscates 400 bags of heroin, arrests alleged traffickers

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — For three months, the sheriff’s office has been investigating the actions of a heroin trafficker out of Clarkton, N.C. On Apr. 5, it announced New Hanover County Sheriff Vice and Narcotics Division were able to make an arrest.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, detectives learned Justin Steele was in Wilmington on Apr. 5 making a delivery. Officers were able to locate Steele’s vehicle, which they identified to frequently park on Kerr Avenue.

“Vice-Narcotics Detectives approached Steele, who was in the driver’s seat of vehicle, and identified the passenger as Mallie Williams,” the release noted.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 400 bags of heroin. Both suspects were booked at the New Hanover County Detention Facility and face drug trafficking charges.

Steele is held under a $1.5 bond and Williams is held under a $1 million bond.
