Lane shift near downtown due to emergency sewer repair

WILMINGTON — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority crews are working on an emergency sewer repair near downtown Wilmington as of Tuesday afternoon.

It has caused a lane shift near the 500 block of South Third Street, according to a CFPUA press release. The outermost southbound lane of South Third between Church and Castle streets will remain closed to traffic until further notice.

All traffic will flow through the inner southbound lane, the release noted. The changes are expected to last at least five hours Tuesday as repairs are completed.

“Northbound traffic on South Third Street and turning traffic from Castle Street will not be impacted,” the release explained.
