CFPUA board welcomes councilman Luke Waddell as new member

WILMINGTON — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Board swore in a new member earlier in the week. Wilmington City Councilman Luke Waddell became an official member on Mar. 9.

Councilman Waddell, CEO of Cadence Realty, was elected to serve his first term on Wilmington City Council in Nov. 2021. Waddell was appointed by the council to fill the CFPUA board seat that was vacated last year by retiring councilman Kevin O’Grady.

Waddell will serve his term as board member on the CFPUA board until July 1.

The CFPUA has also reappointed councilman Charlie Rivenbark and New Hanover County commissioners Jonathan Barfield Jr. and Rob Zapple.

Two Wilmington City Council members and the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners make up the 11-person CFPUA board. Each person appoints an additional three “at-large” members from the community, with a final member appointed together by the city and county.

More information regarding the CFPUA Board can be found here.
