LELAND –– The Leland Fire Department was dispatched to the Citgo gas station on Village road around 4:45 a.m. Thursday.
Arriving within three minutes, the first unit found heavy smoke coming from the building, according to a town press release.
Firefighters entered the building at 115 Village Road and “initiated a fire attack to quickly knock the main body of fire down,” the release states.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Multiple crews assisted Leland Fire/Rescue in responding, including New Hanover County Fire Rescue, Navassa Volunteer Fire Department, Northwest Volunteer Fire Department, and Brunswick County EMS and Emergency Services.
