Have a tip for the WPD? Use its new QR code

WILMINGTON — Smartphone users have another way to provide local police anonymous tips outside of its text-a-tip options. The Wilmington Police Department now has a QR code that individuals can scan to send information namelessly.

The department launched its app, Wilmington N.C. PD, last November, for users to submit tips anonymously. The app utilizes the Tip 411 system to ensure all personal information of users remains hidden, so no one can track or learn from where the info comes.

After opening the app, click “Submit a Tip,” or scan the QR code to access it.

Those without a smartphone or who wish to continue to text a tip can do so anonymously by texting to 847411 using the keyword “WPDNC.”
