WILMINGTON –– Fox’s “Our Kind of People” is filming a scene at Flytrap Brewing this month.
According to film permits, the production is capturing a party scene with two cast members at the local brewery. The shoot requires 60 crew members and 50 extras.

Inspired by Lawrence Otis Graham’s bestselling book “Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class,” the series is described as a “soapy, thrilling exploration of race and class in America and an unapologetic celebration of black resilience and achievement.” It follows a single mother who sets out to reclaim her family’s name through her Black, female hair care business. She soon uncovers a dark secret from her mother’s past that may shake the community.
The series portrays Wilmington and the surrounding areas as Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts.
So far, the production has taken out film permits to shoot at Brooklyn Arts Center, Station No. 2 event venue, Cape Fear Country Club, Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall retirement community, Carolina Apartments on Market Street, the Riverwalk, Greenfield Lake Park and private residences.
The series will run Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Fox, starting Sept. 21.
