NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office released this morning on its Facebook page an investigation into a double homicide that took place in the early hours of Saturday.
According to WWAY, which first reported the incident, the homicide happened at the 6000 block of Providence Road, in a neighborhood in the Middle Sound area of Wilmington. The home is owned by George Taylor III, chief operating officer of TRU Colors Brewing — a Wilmington brewery operated by active gang members.
WWAY reported that Taylor is not one of the shooting victims. The names of the victims will not be released until families have been notified.
NHCSO noted the incident to be isolated, not causing further threat to neighbors in the Middle Sound area or the general public.
TRU Colors’ goal is to stop street violence by teaching gang members business and life skills that create positive opportunities. The brewery moved into its new location at 715 Greenfield St. earlier in the year, and made national headlines recently on GMA. It’s slated to roll out its first lager soon through a distribution partnership with Molson Coors.
