‘Our Kind of People’ casting call for yacht-party scene

WILMINGTON — The locally filmed series “Our Kind of People” is in need of males and females, 18-25, as extras in a yacht-party scene, schedule for shoot on July 27.

“Our Kind of People” is being produced by Karin Gist (“Mixed-ish”) and Lee Daniels (“Empire”), and follows the story of a single mom (Yaya DaCosta) who moves her family to Martha’s Vineyard to fulfill her business dream. Angela wants to launch a hair-care line for the Black elite in Oak Bluffs, but a secret from her past comes to light that could shake up her life and the community around her.

All ethnicities are welcome to submit, however, the production is in need of people of color. Pay is the standard $80 for eight hours, but special rates apply for priority and recurring background extras. Individuals will receive time and a half for every hour over eight.

Extras will be required to take a Covid-19 test prior to the shoot and will be paid $100 extra per test taken. Information on where to get the test will be revealed after the casting is booked.
