A Brunswick County man convicted of possessing numerous types of drugs with the intent to distribute was sentenced to 20 years in prison last Friday.
Jerome Davis, 39, trafficked in cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana, according to a press release from the Eastern District of North Carolina U.S. Attorney’s Office.
In May 2016, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office used a confidential informant to purchase heroin from Davis near Princess Place Drive in Wilmington. “Between March and September 2019, the Wilmington Police Department made several controlled purchases from Davis of either cocaine or a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl,” according to the press release.
In September 2019, Davis’ residence was searched by the FBI, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and the Wilmington Police Department. “During the search, deputies found a loaded 9mm handgun, crack cocaine, cocaine, marijuana, and $27,000 in cash,” according to the release.
Davis was previously convicted of felony burglary, resisting arrest with violence, assault and other drug-related charges. Possession of the handgun led to an additional charges for Davis: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Wilmington Police Department and the Brunswick and New Hanover County Sheriff’s Offices investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Severo prosecuted the case.”
