Police call Cypress Grove shooting a ‘drug deal gone bad’

WILMINGTON — A shooting that took place at Cypress Grove on Jan. 4, 3:25 p.m., has been described as “a drug deal gone bad,” according to the Wilmington Police Department.

When officers originally arrived at the Jan. 4 shooting, they found an 18-year-old male with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds; though at the time officers suspected them to be life-threatening.

Detectives now know the firearm they found at the scene, which was photographed by a witness, belonged to the 18-year-old.

Police are continuing with the investigation.
