Checking in with tri-county schools: 6 Covid-19 cases in New Hanover, 7 in Brunswick and 13 in Pender

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — New Hanover County Schools continues tracking its lowest cases since Covid-19 began and school started back again.

Only six cases were documented on the NHCS public online dashboard, along with 21 quarantines.

Since Oct. 12, NHCS has recorded 1,002 positive cases total. Here is the breakdown for the week of May 28:

Anderson Elementary – 1
Freeman Elementary – 1
Mary C. Williams – 1

Holly Shelter Middle – 1
Trask Middle – 1

New Hanover High – 1

Brunswick County Schools

Brunswick County Schools is reporting 7 active Covid-19 cases. More than 100 people were quarantining out of precaution as of Friday afternoon, according to the online dashboard.

Since Sept. 21, the school system has recorded 488 positive cases overall.

North Brunswick – 2
South Brunswick – 2
Waccamaw School – 1

Pender County Schools

Pender County Schools is showing 13 Covid-19 cases and 51 quarantines for the week of May 17-23, according to the most recent update on its dashboard.

Since Aug. 1, 656 staff and students in Pender County tested positive for Covid-19.
