WILMINGTON — Wilmington Downtown Incorporated (WDI) is wrapping up its Covid-19 small business grant program by awarding its last three this week.
In total, WDI’s re-stock, re-open, and re-cover (Re-3) grant program funded 40 downtown businesses since the pandemic began. Up to $3,000 was awarded to each business, totaling $113,000 in grants shared.
Businesses applied for the grants through WDI and were permitted to use funds in a variety of ways, from purchasing PPE to buying ads to increase business during the economic lull caused by the pandemic.
Funds were provided by the Longleaf Foundation, nCino, and dozens more local donors.
“The Re-3 grant program exceeded all of our expectations,” WDI Chair Dane Scalise said in a press release. “Our Downtown businesses absolutely still need your ongoing love and support, but this program truly highlights our community’s tremendous capacity for generosity. I’m so honored to have been involved and cannot thank the donors enough.”
