Monday, May 12
Pender County Commissioners will meet for a budget work session at 4 p.m. at 805 S. Walker Street, Burgaw. The meeting livestream can be accessed here. An agenda was not posted by press.
Brunswick County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. at the Government Center in the commissioners chambers. Four public hearings are on the agenda, including a 143-unit planned development on Long Beach Road and a conditional zoning of 27 acres near 445 Tarkin Court NW near Shallotte from high density R-6000 to rural residential conditional zoning (RR-CZ).
Tuesday, May 13
The New Hanover County Schools Policy Committee will meet at 1 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1809 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes policy amendments from the school board association.
Burgaw Board of Commissioners will meet at 4:30 p.m. at Burgaw Town Center, 108 E. Wilmington St. The agenda includes:
- Adoption of Bishop Rayford Hankins Memorial Park Community Splash Pad development plan
- Consideration of amending the Burgaw Incubator Kitchen Entrepreneur Tenant Operating Agreement
- Resolution in Opposition of legislative preemption of local government planning and zoning
Carolina Beach Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 1121 N. Lake Park Boulevard. The meeting livestream can be accessed here. The agenda includes:
- A Public Hearing to receive input on the FY25/26 Budget.
- A Conditional Zoning request to consider a bar/tavern in the Highway Business District at 1360 Bridge Barrier Road.
- Discussion regarding amending parking regulations to potentially designate on-street spaces for hotel/motel use.
The New Hanover County Board of Elections will hold a regular meeting on May 13, 5:30 p.m., 226 Government Center Dr., to conduct regular business and discuss election-related matters. Southport Board of Alderman will have a special budget meeting at 9 a.m. at 113 W. Moore St. The agenda includes the FY26 Planning Services Budget Request and the FY26 Permitting and Inspections Budget Request. Meetings are streamed here.
The Pender County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. at the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, 798 U.S. Highway 117. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Updated draft budget
- Strategic plan approval
- Three-tier bell schedule
Oak Island Town Council meeting takes place in council chambers at 6 p.m. Meetings can be streamed here and the agenda includes a special use permit for a mixed development to be built at 3190 Southport-Supply Road and a presentation of the proposed FY 2025-2026 budget.
Wednesday, May 14
The Town of Topsail Beach Town Council will meet for a budget workshop session at 10 a.m. The meeting will be livestreamed here. The agenda includes discussion of the FY 25/26 budget proposal.
Southport ABC Board will meet at 2 p.m. at 714 N. Howe St. An agenda was not posted by press.
Oak Island Board of Adjustment meets at 10 a.m. at Oak Island Town Hall in council chambers. The agenda includes a variance request for 101 NE 75th St. to encroach 1.4 ft into the side setback. Meetings can be streamed here.
CFPUA Authority Board will meet at 9 a.m. at 230 Government Center Dr. A public hearing on the budget will take place.
Thursday, May 15
The New Hanover County Commissioners will hold an agenda review at 4 p.m. in the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive.
The Wilmington Board of Adjustment will meet at 1 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- 154 Parkwood Drive: Variance to City Code Section 18-199 Accessory structure setbacks to allow detached accessory structure to remain as permitted
- 420 Evans St.: Variance to City Code Section 18-28, setback requirements for a duplex in the R-5 district

Oak Island Planning Board will meet in council chambers at town hall at 9 a.m. The agenda includes the review of major Subdivision preliminary plat and major site development plan, Waterside at Oak Island. Meetings can be streamed here.
Leland Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. at town hall. The agenda includes a public hearing for a rezoning request from RCS Engineering for an approximately 0.78-acre area changed from its current zoning districts of R-15, residential district, medium density and C-1, commercial business district, general commercial to R-6, residential district, medium density. An update will also be given for Leland Central Park Concept Study, presented by John Wozniak.
Friday, May 16
Surf City Town Council will meet at 9 a.m. in the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way. The meeting livestream can be accessed here. The agenda includes committee appointments and a water sports ordinance amendment.
