Estimated 2K gallons untreated wastewater affect Pages Creek

A sanitary sewer overflow in the Bayshore Drive community took place overnight but CFPUA crews are correcting a sewer main fail currently. (Google Maps)

WILMINGTON — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority worked to correct a sanitary sewer overflow in the Bayshore community overnight Sunday. A failed sewer main was reported at 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 4 near the intersection of Bayshore and Shore Point drives.

According to CFPUA, crews isolated the failed section; however, repairs are ongoing. A final estimate of untreated wastewater that escaped will be provided though estimates are around 2,100 currently..

Crews working on the break should proceed through the area with caution.

The incident has been reported to the North Carolina Division of Water Quality.
