One charged in food truck larceny

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department units responded to a larceny of a food truck in the 1000 block of South College Road around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 24-year-old Joao Vithor De Lara Silva.

Officers located the vehicle on Peachtree Avenue shortly after and officers apprehended the suspect who was attempting to escape out of the window of the food truck. They also discovered extensive damage which had been done to the food trucks prep area.

Silva has been charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, injury to personal property, and driving while license revoked impaired. Silva is currently being held under a $50,000 secured bond.
