Pedestrian suffers critical injuries after being struck on Carolina Beach Road

WILMINGTON — One person is in critical condition after a collision with a pickup truck took place Monday morning on Carolina Beach Road.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, a motor vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident took place in the 4300 block, near Codington Elementary School, just after 6:20 a.m. The pedestrian was crossing Carolina Beach Road near Orchid Road when he was struck.

He was transported to Novant Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. Charges are not expected against the driver of the pickup truck at this time, according to police.
