2 people apprehended as WPD investigates King Street shooting

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department has taken two people into custody, one a juvenile, in connection to a shooting that took place in Wilmington Sunday.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of King Street just after 5:30 p.m. on March 3. They found damage to vehicles and houses, due to a shooting, but no injuries were reported.

Officers apprehended a 16-year-old and 18-year-old Maleek Coutrier, the latter of whom was charged with

  • Trafficking in heroin
  • Resist, delay, obstruct
  • PWIMSD schedule II controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Coutrier is being held under a $50,000 secured bond.

The name of the other suspect is withheld due to being a minor.
