Family-friendly Mardi Gras festival hosted in Oak Island

OAK ISLAND — Beads, food, shopping and floats are all on tap for attendees to the annual Oak Island Mardi Gras by the Sea Parade and Festival.

This year the parade and festival will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Middleton Park Complex in Oak Island. The festival will take place from noon to 4 p.m., featuring an artisan market, food vendors, a kids zone, and concert.

There will be a parade, starting at 1 p.m. on Keziah Street and making its way into the park.

The event is open to the community and requires no fee to enter.
