PENDER COUNTY — Middle-school students are launching a community gift drive in the spirit of giving back.
Burgaw Middle School is hosting an initiative called BMS Gives Back, which aims to provide 1,000 donated gifts to empower students to share the joy of giving with their families during the holidays.
The school is asking the community to contribute new or gently used small items suitable for gifting, including mugs, small beauty products, small toys, dad gifts and inspirational items.
The goal is to offer three to five items for each student at Burgaw Middle School, allowing them to select and wrap their own gifts. Many lack the means to purchase something for their families during the holidays.
The initiative allows students to foster a sense of generosity and community spirit.
Donations can be dropped off at Utopia Day Spa, 312F W. Wilmington St. in Burgaw Tuesday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The deadline is Dec. 15.
