LELAND — A Leland man was arrested Thursday following officers’ response to a disturbance call in the 400 block of Village Road.
Jackson Donald Green, 30, was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in town limits, resisting a public officer, and related driving offenses.
The Leland Police Department was dispatched to the area around 5:30 p.m. and heard two gunshots upon their arrival. Officer observed a person fleeing the area on foot. Green was found hiding in a wooded area a few hundred yards from where the incident occurred and was taken into custody.
K-9 units from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office assisted with an area search and officers located the firearm used during the incident. The investigation is ongoing but initial findings report Green was not aiming at anyone when firing the weapon.
