WILMINGTON — A missing woman last seen on Friday, Aug. 18, has been found.

The Wilmington Police Department reported Wednesday evening that the human remains located in a retention pond on Tuesday, Aug. 22, have been positively identified as 31-year-old Karen Molta.
Molta was reported missing on Saturday, Aug. 19. She was last been seen in the 500 block of Mill Creek Court at Mill Creek Apartments.
Law enforcement were working on the missing person case when they discovered the body. They were canvassing Anne McCrary Park by foot and came upon the remains in a nearby retention pond.
According to WPD, there is no evidence of foul play; however, the investigation is active and ongoing. The medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Karen Molta’s family,” WPD released in a statement.
