Public health alert released for ready-to-eat lunch kits

Consumers are being warned before eating a grab-and-go lunch item due to the discovery of an allergen.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert for “Never Any! Uncured Ham and Cheese” Ready to Eat lunch kits produced between June 27 and July 5 of 2023.

Each lunch kit contains chocolate chip cookies, discovered to contain peanut allergens.

The health alert ensures that consumers with a peanut allergy are not consuming the 2- to 9-ounce tray packages, and that the product is removed from purchasing.

Any consumer with the product in their refrigerator is urged to return the product to the place of purchase or be thrown away. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

Consumers with questions about the public health alert can contact Maple Leaf Foods Inc. at 1-877-526-4520. Members of the media who have questions can contact Maple Leaf Foods Inc. at media.hotline@mapleleaf.com.
