WILMINGTON — Around 1,500 students looking ahead to plan their college majors or set forth possible career paths will attend a fair hosted by New Hanover County Schools on Friday.
The event takes place in the Legion Stadium (2149 Carolina Beach Rd.) parking lot on March 31, 9 a.m. to noon.
The Spring 2023 Career, College, and Community Exploration Event is aimed at students in 8th through 12th grades. It will connect them with college representatives, potential employers and other community members. Different career fields will be represented, with information supplied about skills needed for internships and career paths.
There will be interactive exhibits and simulators, including the Be Pro Be Proud truck. It’s equipped with hands-on simulators in numerous skilled trades — welding, truck driving, heavy equipment operation, diesel technician, and lineman.
“Cape Fear Community College will also be present, providing hands-on simulations for students to gain valuable experience in various fields,” according to NHCS release.
