WILMINGTON — A free mobile pharmacy offering over-the-counter meds will be set up Saturday, March 25.

Taking place rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the pharmacy event, sponsored by Humana and Wilmington Health, is open to anyone 18 and older. Everyone is qualified — no identification is required, nor are there income restrictions.

The medications can be accessed at 2421 Silver Stream Ln. and include cough and cold medicine, vitamins, children’s, allergy medication, and first aid supplies. All medications will be distributed first-come, first-serve.

Humana will have health insurance information available and Wilmington Health will and SEEDS of Healing, Inc. be on site. SEEDS will provide HIV/syphilis screenings.

Volunteers are needed to help run the event; signups are open here. Click on the “New Hanover County Mobile Free Pharmacy-Alliance 3/2023” tab to select the timeframe.

NC MedAssist hosts multiple free pharmacy events statewide annually. It held 53 last year and served 1,000 people.

“NC MedAssist’s overall goal is to help ease the burden of those in need by aiding people who have been forced to decide between buying food and purchasing life-saving medication,” a press release noted.
