Crews completed a bypass around a large leak found in the 48-inch transmission line of the Lower Cape Fear Water and Sewer Authority (LCFWASA), according to CFPUA. The line treats water from the Cape Fear River, and crews noticed the leak from a change in water pressure and flow from the Kings Bluff Pump Station.
Brunswick County’s emergency contractor worked in “a remote, swampy area of Brunswick County” to bypass the leak, CFPUA noted in a release. Permanent repairs to restore the line at full capacity are now underway. Once finished, the temporary bypass will be removed.
The line restoration is not expected to impact local customers and systems will operate as normal.
