WILMINGTON — Clayton Hamerski filed today to run for New Hanover County Register of Deeds, challenging incumbent Republican Tammy Beasley, who is running for a third term.
Hamerski is a local real estate agent and self-described lifelong resident of New Hanover County.
“I believe there are many ways we can improve the office for all who use it. I have the leadership experience, skills, and education needed to help bring the office into the 21st century,” Hamerski said.
Hamerski has served the community on the boards of the Cape Fear Economic Development Council, the New Hanover County Cooperative Extension Advisory Council, the Martin Luther King Celebration Committee of Southeastern NC, and the Cape Fear Realtors Community Affairs Committee. Hamerski is a former board member for the New Hanover County Democratic Party and was the most recent president of the Young Democrats of New Hanover County.
Hamerski said he “hopes to use his leadership experience in the public and nonprofit sectors to help ensure a more efficient and accessible Register of Deeds. “
Hamerski graduated from Cape Fear Community College and UNCW, with a B.A. in Political Science and Government with a minor in Public Administration. After college, he worked as the Finance Director for U.S. Congressional candidate Dr. Kyle Horton during her 2016 campaign.
