David Perry has announced to his intent to run for the seat as a Republican candidate against Democrat Marcia Morgan. Perry previously ran for District 19 in 2018 as a Libertarian candidate, taking third behind Morgan and then-incumbent Ted Davis (who will run in 2020 as an incumbent in District 20).

According to a release from Perry’s campaign, “Mr. Perry believes that his emphasis on traditional Republican values, such as individual liberty, limited government, and fiscal conservatism, will resonate with the voters of House District 19. His emphasis on integrity and principles that supersede partisan politics, should be attractive to all voters, regardless of party affiliation.”

According to Perry’s campaign Facebook page, he will “vow to hold your individual liberty sacrosanct, and to work tirelessly to reduce the size and scope of state government.”
