WILMINGTON — A new mixed-use development with nearly 300 apartments and 7,466-square-feet of commercial space is being planned in northern New Hanover County.
Located at 7241 Market Street, across the street from the newly renovated Smithfield’s BBQ, sits 30.82-acres of currently undeveloped land.
Tribute Properties, the developer behind the project is requesting a special use permit for the property to allow for residential uses within the commercial district; the property is currently zoned B-2 highway business district.
The property itself is about 30-acres but the special use permit would only apply to half of that, according to a community meeting notice. The county requires community meetings to be held for special use permits before any formal decision is made either granting or denying the request.
According to documents submitted to the county, “The purpose of the community information meeting is to explain the proposed development and answer questions from meeting attendees.”
The meeting is open to the general public and will be held at Covenant Church located at 210 Station Road from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19.
