Overnight shooting on Wooster Street leaves one man injured, police investigating

The incident took place around 11:40 p.m. Monday.

WILMINGTON — A Wilmington man has been hospitalized after being shot while in his vehicle on Wooster Street.

“Officers responded to the 1400 block of Wooster Street around 11:40 p.m. in reference to a ShotSpotter notification of multiple rounds fired. While on scene, officers received a call that a gunshot wound victim arrived at New Hanover Regional Medical Center,” according to Police. 

The incident occurred Monday night.

The man, who has not yet been named by police was wearing a security guard uniform but was not working at the time of the shooting, Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron said.

It is currently unclear if the man was targeted or if he was a victim of a stray bullet.
