WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Four months after Hurricane Florence dealt severe damage to the docks and buildings of Motts Channel Seafood, the popular seafood store reopened today.

Founded in 1990, Motts Channel Seafood has become a go-to for both home cooks and local restaurants looking for local seafood. The store was shuttered by extensive damage caused by high tides and strong winds when Hurricane Florence struck in September of 2018.

On Saturday, Motts announced on social media that it had re-opened after completing renovations.

“After months of renovations due to Florence, we are so excited to announce that we are open for business again! Here is a sneak peak of the renovation. Come see us! 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., 7 days a week,” the store posted online.

Hundreds have followed the renovations process over the last four months, and celebrated online at the announcement.

Motts Channel Seafood can be found at 120 Short St. in Wrightsville Beach. More information is available on Motts’ Facebook page.
