BRUNSWICK COUNTY — The Brunswick County Planning Board will hold two public hearings in mid-January to review rezoning requests for properties near Southport, Bolivia, and Shallotte.

Both hearings will take place in the Commissioner’s Chambers of the Brunswick County Sandifer Administration Building located at 30 Government Center Drive.

The first hearing is set for January 14 at 6 p.m. to review a request to rezone a 3.5-acre parcel of land located off Acres Lane near Southport. The applicant is seeking to rezone the land from its current “medium density residential” zone to a “commercial low density” zone.

The second hearing, planned for January 22 at 6 p.m., will review two separate rezoning requests. The first will be for a parcel of land off Randolphville Road just west of Bolivia, located within Mary Frances Court, Murdock Lee Lane, and High Valley Court. The applicant seeks a change of zoning from “neighborhood commercial” to “commercial low density”.

An additional request involves a 9-acre portion of land located off Whiteville Road near Shallotte, to change from a rural residential zone to an industrial zone.

In the formal notice sent out by the county Wednesday morning, the request was “to amend the official Brunswick County CAMA Land Use Plan Map from Conservation to Industrial” for the 9-acre rezoning area.

Because county offices are closed Dec. 26, no details could be gathered for the three rezoning requests.
