According to organizer John Stamey, this year’s convention will have a focus on film, though there will be plenty of time for the classics – cosplay competitions, regional and national artists, and 75 tables of vendors, including plenty of comics and graphic novels.
Among the filmed being screened at the convention will “Smell” and “The Moon in Her Tresses,” two short films from director Michael Roberts. The local writer and director also created the award-winning sitcom “Vaughan” and is currently at work on a Sherlock Holmes film, based on a short story from Stephen King.
Other guests include Rob Kellum, better known as Papa Stro Maestro, a WCW wrestler and actor, as well as a host of artists: Louis Small, Jr., Ernie Suggs, Andy Bonesteel, make-up artist Bill Stine, and Antler Hill, the music duo of Neil “The Scarecrow” and Jessica Griffin
The convention’s cosplay contest will be held at 4:30 p.m., with free registration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Joshua Alexander, an award-winning cosplay artist, will host.
The convention will also include an escape room competition.
