SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Wilmington will set of fireworks on the Fourth of July — it’s a popular event, but it’s not the only show in the area. Surf City, Carolina Beach, Ocean Isle and Southport also have fireworks shows.
Here’s where to catch those fireworks shows.
Wilmington
The City of Wilmington’s annual Fourth of July celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. at Riverfront Park in downtown Wilmington.
“Headlining this year’s event is the United States Air Force, Full Spectrum Rock Band out of Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA, a five-piece electrifying, high energy “rock, pop & hip-hop” band consisting of Active Duty musicians assembled from areas throughout the U.S. Full Spectrum will take the stage from 7:30 pm – 9:00 p.m,” according to the City of Wilmington’s event page.
Fireworks will begin at 9:05 p.m. after the music.
Carolina Beach
Fireworks at Carolina Beach will actually take place a day before Independence Day. Local band L Shaped Lot will provide music at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk on Tuesday, July 3, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. and fireworks start at 9 p.m.
Surf City
Another event taking place a day early, Surf City will have fireworks and music from Johnny White and the Elite Band starting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, at Southside Park. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk and a parking map can be found online.
Southport
The annual N.C. 4th of July Festival will conclude on July 4, but events will take place throughout the week.
Fireworks, live music, arts and crafts, and more all take place during the week-long event. Fireworks will commence at 9 p.m., Wednesday.

Ocean Isle
Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. July 3 at the Ocean Isle Beach Pier. A 4th of July parade will take place at 10 a.m. on July 4.
