WILMINGTON—A fire damaged one of the city’s Waffle House restaurants overnight, closing the business for at least a day.
According to a press release from Wilmington Fire Department responded to the Waffle House at 5041 Market St. during the night. Moderate flames were showing when firefighters arrived. The fire originated under the restaurant’s griddle.
“A quick offensive attack kept the fire confined to the cooking appliance,” the release states.
The cause of the fire is accidental, and no damage estimates were available.
Jason Dodd, operations manager for Waffle House described the fire as a “small electrical fire.”
“Everything is fine now,” Dodd said. “We should be open in about a day. “
There were no injuries reported.
