CAROLINA BEACH—What’s better than spending the day at the beach? How about spending the day at Carolina Beach while enjoying beer and wine and supporting local businesses. That is exactly what the Carolina Beach Wine and Beer Walk is offering visitors this weekend.

The event kicks of Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets are available online, or for purchase at SeaWitch or Bombers Beverage Company in Wilmington. Of course, since the event is about sampling different beers and wines, participants must be 21-years-old or older to participate. Tickets are all inclusive and participants will receive two samples at each of the 10 venues.

President of Cool Wilmington Chris Andrews said the event helps bring visitors to different restaurants and other venues throughout Downtown. Cool Wilmington has partnered with the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce for several years for the event, and Andrews said it helps local businesses get a kick-start during a typically slower season.

Check-in for the event is at SeaWitch Café.

“At check in, you present your ticket, or purchase your ticket the day of the show (if tickets remain). You will receive your official Carolina Beach Wine & Beer Walk ID and a map of the participating establishments. As you walk through the various locations you will receive 2 wonderful samples (per venue) of a specially selected wine or beer,” according to the Wine and Beer Walk website.

There are 10 venues participating in this year’s event, including:

  • HopLite Irish Pub
  • The Last Resort
  • The Dive Food and Spirits
  • SeaWitch
  • Alaia Juice Bar and Bistro
  • Buzz’s Roost
  • Hurricane Alleys
  • Crush and Grind
  • Havana’s
