Burgaw Middle School student arrested for making false threats

Pender County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 14-year old boy at his residence after making threats against fellow classmates.

BURGAW — The Pender County Sheriff’s Office arrested another student today for making threats against fellow classmates and his school.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed they arrested a 14-year-old boy who threatened to shoot fellow students at Burgaw Middle School. Administrators at the school were made aware of the threats Tuesday morning. Deputies with the Pender Sheriff’s Office arrested the student early Wednesday morning at his family residence.

The student was charged with makes false threats of mass violence on educational property.

As in neighboring New Hanover County, Pender County schools have received a slew of threats. To date, none of them have been credible, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesmen from both counties.
