Oak Island man arrested on multiple drug charges

OAK ISLAND — A joint narcotics investigation run by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and the Oak Island Police Department ended with the arrest of an Oak Island Man on Wednesday.

Ryan Alexander Stewart, 30, was arrested on Wednesday after a search warrant was served at his residence on East Oak Island Drive. Deputies with the county’s Vice and Narcotics unit, as well as officers with the Oak Island Police Department, seized over an ounce of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and at least $500 in cash.

Steward is facing numerous charges related to cocaine, including trafficking, possession with attempt to sell, maintaining a drug residence for the use, storage or sale of controlled substances. He is currently being held at the Brunswick County Detention Facility on a $500,000 bond.

The two month investigation was initiated after authorities received tips from the community. Sheriff John W. Ingram said he was grateful to those in the community who continue to provide information on suspicious or illegal activity in their communities.
