NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A community meeting will be held later this week for residents in the Porters Neck area, in preparation for the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship.
The meeting will be held in the multi-purpose room at Ogden Elementary School, 3637 Middle Sound Loop Road in Wilmington, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, according to a notice from New Hanover County.
The Wells Fargo Championship is expected to bring thousands of visitors from around the world to the Wilmington area. The golf tournament will take place May 1-7, 2017, at Eagle Point Golf Club, 8131 Bald Eagle Lane, .

Representatives of the Wells Fargo Championship will be on hand to listen to community interests and begin to outline plans to address safety and traffic in the area. Other representatives also in attendance will include, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, New Hanover County, and the City of Wilmington.
