UNC-Wilmington basketball gears up for season-opener (video)

UNCW is coming off a memorable 2015-16 campaign in which it tied a school record for wins (25), earned a share of its second straight CAA regular-season title and claimed a CAA championship for the first time since 2006.

Three starters return for the Seahawks and they’re all in the backcourt. Senior Chris Flemmings made the All-CAA first team after leading UNCW and ranking 7th in the league in scoring (16.2 ppg). He shot 51% from the floor and also topped the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg). Senior Denzel Ingram was a third-team All-CAA pick after contributing 12.7 ppg and knocking down a team-high 75 three-pointers. They are joined by CJ Bryce, who scored 10.1 ppg and was named to the CAA All-Rookie team.

Up front, junior Marcus Bryan made 11 starts last year and chipped in 4.5 ppg and 4.1 rpg. Sophomore Devontae Cacok (3.3 ppg/2.9 rpg) showed great promise during his rookie year and senior Chuck Ogbodo provides experience.
