Carolina Panthers podcast: ‘ Now we can at least make the case, we’re coming back’

The voice of the Carolina Panthers, Mick Mixon, made his weekly call to affiliate station 93.7 and 106.3 FM The Dude and the Port City Morning Show on Monday one day after the Panthers’ post-bye week win over the LA Rams, 13-10.

The Panther’s were held to under 250 yards by the Rams defense, but likewise held the Rams to just a field goal and one touchdown in the game.

“Good football teams find ways to win in a variety of ways,” Mixon said.  “Sometimes you have to gut one out like the Panthers did yesterday.”

Among the key plays of the game was a late interception by outside linebacker Thomas Davis that ensured the win for Carolina. That led to a discussion on a pre-game gesture Davis offered injured Ram and fellow Georgia alum Todd Gurley, and the quality of player Davis, the 2014 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Recipient, has proven to be for the league.

“If there is one person character emblematic of the fighting class, of the sportsmanship that the Panthers aspire to … it would be Thomas Davis,” Mixon said.

You can hear the full interview in the podcast above. Mixon can be heard on The Port City Morning Show each week during the football season, typically on Monday mornings at 7:30 a.m., though the schedule may change due to holidays or if the team is traveling.

And, whenever the Carolina Panthers play, catch the game and the post-game show on The Dude.
