Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Supply man on a first-degree murder charge after he allegedly set fire to his father’s home, sheriff’s spokeswoman Emily Flax said.
Deputies responded to a 911 call about a fire to a home at 2843 Craven St., SW, in Suppy just before 8 a.m. Friday. Emergency responders pulled 86-year-old James Caison from the home and transported him to Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center where he later died.
Members of the Brunswick County Fire Investigation Task Force investigated the fire. Alton Glen Caison, 60, of the Craven Street address, was later arrested on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree arson. He is being held at the Brunswick County jail without bond.
“Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram and the entire Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office wishes to offer sincerest condolences to the family of Mr. Caison,” Flax said.
