David Crosby’s “Lighthouse Tour” is coming to Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center in downtown Wilmington this winter.
Tickets for Crosby’s Dec. 7 performance at the Wilson Center, 703 N. Third St., will go on sale this Friday, according to the college. Crosby is currently touring with Michael League, Becca Stevens, and Michelle Willis, performing music from his new album “Lighthouse.” Playing acoustic guitars, piano, and adding vocal harmonies, the band reinterprets Crosby’s greatest hits and performs his newest work as well.
Crosby is a two-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted as amember of both the folk-rock band The Byrds and the Woodstock era-group Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Crosby left The Byrds in 1967 to embark on a lifelong collaboration with Graham Nash and Stephen Stills. Driven by hits including “Eight Miles High,” “Turn! Turn! Turn!,” and a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man,” The Byrds’ signature electric folk-rock influenced numerous musicians to come.
Crosby, Stills, and Nash have been called “the voice of a generation,” and were Grammy-honored in 1969 as Best New Artist. The trio’s self-titled debut album introduced the Crosby-penned tracks “Guinnevere” and “Wooden Ships”—which today is included on Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
