Two Wilmington brothers have pleaded guilty to charges connected to a rival gang member’s stabbing in 2014. Meanwhile, an arrest warrant was issued for a third brother – who was also a defendant – after prosecutors say he cut his electronic monitoring bracelet Monday afternoon and didn’t show up for court.
William Shakeel Point, 21, and Adrian Lynn Point, 24, each pleaded guilty Monday in New Hanover County Superior Court to assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to Assistant District Attorney Dru Lewis.
William Point and Adrian Point, along with their 23-year-old brother Antonio Point were each charged in connection with a stabbing that injured 25-year-old Edvis Galloway in front of a convenience store in the 1000 block of Chestnut Street on March 12, 2014. The victim and a woman were at the store when the suspects reportedly stabbed him in the face, chest, arm and leg, Lewis said.
There had been issues between the defendants and the victim, who were rival gang members. The incident occurred over gang-related shootings that involved Point family members, according to Lewis.

Galloway was dropped off at Wilmington Fire Department’s Market Street headquarters for medical assistance and was later taken New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The victim suffered “severe lacerations,” some of which have scarred him, Lewis said.
William Point was arrested in March 2014. In the weeks following his brother’s arrest, Adrian Point turned himself in to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Antonio Point was arrested in June 2014 by U.S. Marshals in Greensboro after he reportedly jumped out of a third story window to escape law enforcement.
In addition to the assault charge, William Point pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in connection with the case and to selling heroin for an offense that occurred in October 2012, Lewis said. Superior Court Judge John Nobles Jr. sentenced William Point to a total of 33-52 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections.
Adrian Point also pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with a ShotSpotter activation on Nov. 13 in the area of 10th and Castle streets in Wilmington. Adrian Point was found in a vehicle at the the Hill Crest Public Housing Community of Wilmington, where law enforcement found a Ruger handgun, Lewis said. Nobles sentenced him to a total of 41-71 months in prison.
Antonio Point was out on bond at the time of his scheduled court date, Lewis said. Probation officers were alerted to an activation on his electronic monitoring device at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, when he allegedly cut his bracelet.
He has pending charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and felony conspiracy in New Hanover County Superior Court. An order for his arrest was issued in court Monday. The judge order his bond to be set at $750,000 secured.
