A local restaurant has become the first eatery in town to earn the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Rating.

Downtown hot spot, Manna, 123 Princess St., earned the distinction on the recently released 2015 list of the country’s premier restaurants and hospitality spots, which also includes The Graystone Inn and The Verandas Bed and Breakfast Inn. This marks 16 consecutive years The Graystone has made the cut and the 13 consecutive year for The Verandas.

According to AAA’s website, only 2.4 percent of the nearly 30,000 restaurants and 5.4 of the 28,000 hotels approved by the organization make the Four Diamond list. AAA is nonprofit federation of 44 motor clubs that serves more than 54 million members in the U.S. and Canada.

To become a AAA-approved establishment, properties must pass an unannounced, on-site evaluation. Hotels must provide “acceptable cleanliness, comfort and hospitality, and restaurants must meet requirements for cleanliness, food preparation and service,” AAA states on its website.

After an establishment is received approved status, an AAA inspector reviews the businesses attributes to determine an appropriate rating level–on a scale of One to Five Diamonds–based on services offered, as well as facilities and amenities.

Open since 2010, Manna serves up an innovative take on American Cuisine, Tuesday through Sunday, and features unique cocktails and an extensive wine list. The restaurant focuses on incorporating local products as much as possible, according to its website.
