No arrests have been made in last Tuesday’s intentionally set fire that killed two people.
According to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay, 51-year-old Pamela Pickett and 14-year-old Makayla Pickett died in the fire reported at 5:05 a.m. Dec. 23 at 1901 Lingo St. in Wilmington.

Both victims lived at the residence, Lindsay said. The arson investigation is being conducted by Wilmington police and fire departments and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
The home had heavy flames and smoke showing when responders arrived, according to Wilmington Fire Department Battalion Chief David Hines. Three people were able to escape the home and were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. No injuries to fire fighters were reported, Hines said.
Damages to the structure of the home and its contents are estimated at $115,000, Battalion Chief Sammy Flowers said. The American Red Cross has been providing lodging assistance to the victims.
