A 40-year-old man was taken to the hospital Sunday night after he was shot multiple times at the Pinewood Apartments off Randall Parkway in Wilmington.
According to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cpl. Leslie Irving, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Thrasher Court at 9:21 p.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found the victim on the ground with bystanders assisting with first aid, Irving said. The man was shot in the arm, leg and right hip area.
Witnesses reported that the suspect fled west from the scene on foot, headed toward Pheasant Court. The suspect is described as a black male with short hair.
Police were unable to locate the suspect, but one bullet casing was found at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
