WILMINGTON — Looking to get a jump on local Christmas shopping? The City of Wilmington is making it a little easier to do so this weekend.

All on-street parking downtown will be free Thursday, Nov. 24 to Sunday, Nov. 27.

On Friday, the city, in collaboration with Downtown Business Alliance, will also host its annual lighting of the holiday tree. Visit Market and Water streets at 5 p.m. for live music, a local artisans’ shopping village, face painting and an opportunity to take photos with Santa.

Admission is free and the night will end with the lighting of the Christmas tree. There will be free hot chocolate available while supplies last.
