WILMINGTON — Air traffic at Wilmington International Airport is on hold until tonight, as airlines canceled every afternoon flight due to the impacts of Hurricane Ian.

More than 20 departures and arrivals to the facility are impacted from American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta. All three carriers are offering free flight changes for people with affected schedules.

The airport’s flight listing shows several arrivals Friday evening, including a Delta flight from Atlanta and American Airlines flights from Charlotte and New York.

One Delta flight from New York had its arrival delayed from 5:49 p.m. to 6:24 p.m.

Only two departures today have not been canceled: Delta flights leaving for Atlanta and New York this evening. The Atlanta flight was delayed from 6:34 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Heavy rain and high winds are expected around the Cape Fear region into Friday night, when Ian is expected to move past the region.
