BOLIVIA, N.C.  — Letters, photos and videos will be enshrined in a time capsule on July 1 at the Brunswick County Charters of Freedom settings.

Content from the capsule, which will not be opened for 65 years, will be included by public officials and special guests. A video of the Charters of Freedom settings dedication ceremony will be included along with a signed list of names from dedication attendees.

The time capsule will be reopened on Sept. 17, 2087, the 300th anniversary of Constitution Day.

The Charters of Freedom were dedicated in April 2021 and can be viewed year-round at county courthouse. The settings feature replicas of the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The project, created in collaboration with Foundation Forward, was inspired by the National Archives.

The ceremony is open to the public and will take place at 9 a.m. at 310 Government Center Drive, NE in Bolivia. RSVPs are not required.
