CAROLINA BEACH — Roadwork is being done in an area of Pleasure Island this week, preventing drivers from accessing a portion of Hamlet Avenue. Paid street parking also will be unavailable in the area.
The part of the road being paved is located between Woody Hewett and Carolina Beach avenues. It will be closed June 9 and 10.
Motorists needing to access the 100 block of Carolina Beach Avenue S. can use Fayetteville, Hewett, Woody or Atlanta avenues.
The sidewalks to the Hamlet Avenue beach access still will remain open to foot traffic.
Local businesses operating on the beach via Hamlet “should pre-stage all equipment on the beach before 7 a.m. or should expect hour or more wait times during the paving process,” according to a release from the Town of Carolina Beach.
